Excellent interview. Lots of interesting info to digest. In regards to the mulesed wool which I haven’t heard of until now. I wanted to check the brands that I use which are Darn Tough and Ice Breaker. Neither allow mulesing in their source wool.

Interesting comments, it’s definitely a complex topic and a difficult balance! Just to say though – PFC free DWRs aren’t inherently less durable. DWR technology that isn’t based on PFCs is still in its infancy and should continue to improve! So hopefully it won’t be a case of durable PFC treatments vs non durable PFC free treatments forever! In the interim, the shift in mindset to embrace product aftercare through washing and reproofing, will stand everyone in good stead longer term as product aftercare will still be super important even once PFC free DWR technology has improved!

The DWR question is an interesting one: Like for like, C6 might be more environmentally friendly but if it’s having to be produced, shipped, bought and re-applied much more regularly than C8 lasts for, then the question becomes which one is really better? Long-term thinking also has to be part of the equation!
Loving this podcast series, thank you Trekitt!

Sadley, Montane only offer the Womens clothing range up to size 16. For us ladies have a larger chest a size 18 would be nice. Or we have to go men’s products, but that comes with problems at the hips. Montane is not the only outdoor clothing that suffers from this.
Why do trousers in larger sizes have to have such long leg lengths. Size 16 with a 32 inch inside leg. Why could there not be a choice of leg lengths.
