The Steps in Field chapter is fantastic. I often struggle to put the new knowledge into practice, and this is tremendous help.

Excellent video! Wondering if you have the choice, will you use a 10-20mm F4L or 15-35mm F2.8L lens for most of your landscape photography?

  4. @PrinceJvstin on February 5, 2025 at 4:40 pm

a polarizer is something that can’t really ever be replicated in lightroom. It’s an essential! I thought f/8 and be there came from Weegee, a street photographer, but it sure does work for landscapes too…

Z50 vs z50 what is better in open landscape and trails and by the water

Another superb tutorial Simon! Didn’t know about the 1/3 focus, as I always obtain hyperfocal distance by focusing at a far object, which is easy to accomplish with a wide angle lens. Best regards! 🙂

Nice vlog. I do have a question: Why does one has to learn landscape photography in 13 minutes?????????????
One should learn landscape photography GOOD and SPEED (13 minutes?????) is in that case of no importance. Should people be mislead??????

GOOD LEARNING and TIME/SPEED are not comparable ( with exception of exceptional talents). I would think that one should learn it properly and for all good and deep/meaningful. That’s impossible in ""such a fast way"". Please go back to content-rich vlogs instead of speed, hurry and rush vlogs. Landscape photography is to complex, important, comprehensive and nice to do to deal with junk vlogs, because that’s what you get when you don’t take landscape photography seriously. And I’m used to something different from your vlogs.

Simon, I do love landscape photography. I’m doing everything on a mobile phone and want to get ‘real’ gear and perhaps start a career in photography. Can you make good money with landscape photography? … or is it mainly just something you do as a "hobby?"

  27. @Richardisonline on February 5, 2025 at 5:03 pm

Brilliant, and thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience about landscape photography and photo gear equipment, etc…. I thoroughly enjoyed your content. Thank you

  36. @Sendtheshutter on February 5, 2025 at 5:14 pm

Thank you for all you do to share your experience!

I’m trying to find a video I think you made, but am having trouble. it went into the math behind focal length + aperture and the minimum distance a subject could be in focus using those settings (and beyond at higher aperture’s). was this you? Or am I confusing another creator. id appreciate the help in finding it again!

I went out to take pictures of birds at a marsh one day and had a gorgeous look over the water looking at a farm with some mist. With no tripod, I have a ton of shots hoping 1 is just good enough to keep. I’m going to make a lot of trips out there with a tripod and hope to see something that beautiful again
