Best Hikes in the World- To Try Before You Die
Here are 20 of the best hikes in the world to try before you die. From multi day backpacking routes, to hut to hut walks, day hikes and cross country expeditions, this list will take you around the world to see some of the most epic scenery you could imagine. It was no easy feat narrowing this list down, and I hope it inspires you to grab your backpack and head for the mountains.
***Corrections- Colombia not Columbia
GR 20 is mislabeled as 4,000 feet of elevation and it should say 40,000

great video but I’m sure john Muir would wonder why trials from his homeland are not included
Best hikes in the world ! Without even mentioning (1) Kashmir Great lakes & (2) Sandakphu-phalut 🥱🥱🥱
it was very interesting, thank you so much for your presentation, Also i would like to invite you to come and experience 320 KM long diversify trekking path in my country Sri Lanka.
Good list I’ve hit a number of these or some variant of them. Done: TMB, 1/2 of Kalalau, Inca trail instead of salkantay, Tugela falls, day hikes on 3 capes and grand canyon, and routeburn instead of milford. Add some of the other high regions of peru to your list like Huayhash trek/Santa Cruz. Also it’s spelled Colombia not Columbia – you’re gonna make people angry 🙂 Laugavegur is probably next for me and then Patagonia. I want to do dolomites/alta via but already did Italy so kind of want to wait on that.
Was getting worried but glad to see you covered the southrn hemisphere too 😁
this is a super solid list
Informative.
IT’S COLOMBIA NOT COLUMBIA
The Highline Trail – Glacier NP is one of my favorite hikes. Big horn sheep strolled right by and kept me company
Next big hike for me, will be the MIUT in Madeira. It’s supposed to be stunning too. Happy hiking!
Anything more than 3 days seems too intimidating lol
Excellent video🎉 Thank you so much! Adding the Columbia hike to my to do list❤
An invaluable resource . mesmerizing photography of monumental landscapes . global coverage . thank you, thank you
What’s next on your hiking list? Have any of these hikes made your list?
Great list!
😊❤
I want to start hiking thank you for this insight
I am surprised you did not include John Muir Trail.
Amazing video!
Great video Alice! If you get the weather, the west highland way in Scotland is truly incredible….
Beautiful photography. Great list!
👍
Me gusta
It is COLOMBIA!!!
(Not Columbia)😜🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
Wow, I would have to hit the lottery to achieve these destinations.⛰️🛸
No india or china?
Cool video Alice. That’s a unique and diverse list of hikes for sure.
02:34 “Twelve thousand meters of elevation gain”… that’s higher than Everest 😂. I guess it was “twelve hundred”, right? 🙂
https://mounttrekkingnepal.blogspot.com/
Nice video!
On-screen the GR20 Corsica is shown as 4,000 feet of height gain which is 1200 metres, whereas it is 42,000 feet/12,000 metres, as you actually say!😎Keep up the good work!
Milford in New Zealand is absolutely magnificent, but I’d recommend Routeburn track instead, since it rains in Milford soooo much and you risk not seeing much during the trek. I went on a cruise in Milford Sound and absolutely loved it (it rained as well, but oh boy was it incredible). My friend did the Milford track and not only was it extremely expensive, but it rained every day and she couldn’t see much. I absolutely LOVED hiking in New Zealand during my working holiday, some more hikes/treks I’d recommend: Abel Tasman Coastal Track, Kepler Track, Robert’s Point track and of course Tongariro Alpine crossing. Stunning, just stunning scenery ❤
You misspelled Colombia.
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
I once got a book called "1000 places to visit before you die" and, I’ll just add your list here to that one 😊
Just home from some beautiful hikes in Santo Antao, Cape Verde (elevation 2000 meters, quite challenging and, the Atlantic Ocean all around) just off the West African coast and, definitely a place for me to go back.
Thanks again for sharing all these stunning places!! 🌹🌹🌹
You r amazing!!!!!!
You forgot the Eagle Creek trail in Columbia River gorge in Oregon.
Ladakh
Very hard to argue with this list. Excellent job.
Great list! I’ll have to be sure to check of few of these off my list. My favorite hike is the Highline trail in Glacier National Park.

There is Alice in the world of Karen…
Very inspiring thank you! Just an fyi, the West Coast Trail does not go thru the Great Bear Rainforest, the bottom of the GBR is on the north east side of Vancouver Island 🙂 Next week I’m on the WCT and in August the Tatchu Trail, above Nootka Island. I’ve done all the BC trails you mentioned, so good. For more Vancouver Island trails, try Nootka Island for a sweet little adventure, pretty easy and the North Coast Trail, a bit more challenging, but so wonderful. Thanks for the trails you mentioned, so inspiring 🙂
Great video thanks 🙏
Colombia – not Columbia. British Columbia is a province in Canada.
Te Araroa
It’s ColOmbia not Columbia
Thank you so much. Who would even know about these places, without your expert videos.
